MSC Euribia – New Show Launches
Working with a fantastic production company responsible for launching a brand-new suite of shows aboard MSC Euribia, Clockwork Scenery was tasked with designing, fabricating and installing a wide variety of scenic elements to help bring the productions to life.
One thing we always feel strongly about is the importance of scenery in front of LED screens. Whilst modern LED video walls can create incredible visuals, nothing quite replaces the sense of depth, scale and reality that physical scenery brings to a stage. By combining scenic construction with LED technology, performers are given a world to interact with rather than simply performing in front of a screen. The result is a more immersive experience for both the cast and the audience.

The centrepiece of the project was an 8-metre-long tread unit featuring glitter fascia panels, dance floor surfaces and integrated lighting effects. Using individually addressable Glasson RGB bulbs and programmable control systems, the entire unit could be mapped to create dynamic lighting sequences that became part of the performance itself. Combined with RGB step-edge illumination, the result was a striking scenic feature that transformed throughout the show.
Another standout element was the painterly circus entranceway, complete with chasing cabochon bulbs and rich red velour tabs. Manufactured in our Hampshire workshop, the piece combined scenic carpentry, decorative scenic painting, lighting integration and specialist finishing techniques to create a classic theatrical look with a contemporary twist.
The project also included a number of bespoke feature props and scenic installations, including a fully illuminated battery-operated pinball machine and a pair of tube train carriage halves. For authenticity, we even sourced genuine London Underground fabric to help recreate the look and feel of the real thing.
Projects such as this showcase the breadth of services we provide at Clockwork Scenery. From scenic fabrication, scenic carpentry and specialist paint finishes through to LED integration, technical infrastructure, bespoke prop manufacture and cruise ship installation, our team delivers complete solutions for theatres, cruise ships, live events and entertainment venues worldwide.
The success of the productions led to further commissions, with several of the scenic elements being replicated for additional MSC vessels as the shows expanded across the fleet. There's no better compliment than being asked to build it again.
