Azamara Fleet – Bespoke Stage Extensions & LED Scenic Enhancements
We've been fortunate to work on a number of projects across the Azamara fleet, helping to enhance existing entertainment venues through a combination of scenic fabrication, technical integration and bespoke engineering solutions.
For this project, the brief was to increase the flexibility of the theatre stage whilst introducing new scenic elements that would improve the overall visual impact of the venue. Working across multiple vessels, we designed and manufactured a series of bespoke stage extensions and LED scenic features that could be adapted to suit a variety of productions and entertainment formats.
What We Built
Three sets of bespoke aluminium stage decks
Curved stage extensions to match existing stage radii
Modular deck system allowing multiple configurations
Integrated deck support structures
LED illuminated lightbox columns
Proscenium-mounted scenic features
Frosted tracking panels
Brushed aluminium framing systems
Scenic masking solutions for upstage LED screens
Onboard installation across the Azamara fleet
The most significant element of the project was the manufacture of three complete sets of bespoke aluminium stage decks. Designed specifically to follow the radius of the existing stages, the decks provided valuable additional performance space whilst maintaining the appearance of the original theatre architecture. A key requirement was flexibility, allowing the decks to be installed in a variety of configurations depending on the production requirements.
Manufactured in our Hampshire workshop, the decks combined lightweight aluminium fabrication, precision TIG welding and scenic finishing techniques to create robust structures capable of withstanding the demands of daily cruise ship operation whilst remaining practical for installation and handling by onboard teams.
Alongside the stage extensions, we also produced a series of LED lightbox columns designed to fit neatly within the existing proscenium architecture. These illuminated features helped modernise the venue whilst complementing the theatre's existing design. Frosted tracking panels housed within bespoke brushed aluminium frames were installed to provide an elegant solution for masking the upstage LED screen when not in use, helping the venue transition seamlessly between different styles of entertainment.
Projects like this perfectly demonstrate the blend of skills that sits at the heart of Clockwork Scenery. From aluminium TIG welding and bespoke metal fabrication through to scenic construction, LED integration and cruise ship installation, we specialise in creating practical solutions that enhance entertainment venues without compromising their character.
The finished installations continue to provide Azamara's entertainment teams with a more versatile stage environment, offering greater flexibility for performers whilst enhancing the overall guest experience.
